Mission Statement – Soylos

Core Objectives

Soylos uses all forms of art to inspire, organize, and uplift underserved communities. We create culturally rooted programs, public art projects, and educational experiences that empower people to resist oppression, heal from trauma, and reconnect with their identity, their community, and the natural world.

  • Community Healing Through Art

  • Offer accessible art-based programs, workshops, and mural projects that address trauma, promote mental wellness, and strengthen cultural identity.

  • Youth Empowerment & Mentorship

  • Engage at-risk and system-impacted youth through hands-on creative projects, cultural education, and leadership development rooted in lived experience and resilience.

  • Cultural Preservation & Storytelling

  • Honor and revive ancestral knowledge through art, oral histories, music, and public installations that reflect the voices and experiences of marginalized communities.

  • Grassroots Organizing Through Creativity

  • Use art as a catalyst for civic engagement, awareness, and local action—mobilizing communities to speak out against injustice and build solidarity.

  • Reconnection with Nature

  • Incorporate natural spaces, indigenous practices, and ecological awareness into creative programming to help communities rebuild relationships with the land and environment.

  • Building Safe Creative Spaces

  • Cultivate safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces—indoors or outdoors—where art becomes a tool for connection, dialogue, and transformation.
